Born in Sweden in 1978, Kimon Fioretos has developed a multifaceted career as an actor, acting teacher, director, acting coach, writer, and translator of plays. His initial training took place at the historic Art Theater of Athens (Theatro Technis Karolos Koun), followed by the year-long program of the National Theatre’s Experimental Stage (Actor–Director Laboratory), under the artistic direction of Stathis Livathinos. He later completed his studies at the Demidov School of Acting, training directly under Professor Andrei Malaev-Babel—a philosophy that has since become central to both his artistic practice and pedagogy.
With over two decades of professional experience, he has collaborated with leading directors in Greek theatre and television. In film and television advertising, he has worked with filmmakers such as Yorgos Lanthimos, Panos Koronis, Neritan Zinxhiria, Vardis Marinakis, and Christos Nikou.
Although his early teaching work encompassed a wide range of approaches—including Meisner, Michael Chekhov, and the Milton Katselas technique—his trajectory gradually led to a full commitment to the Demidov School.
Today, he is a certified teacher of the Demidov School of Acting within the International Demidov Association, a certified teacher of the Michael Chekhov technique and active member of MICHA, and a certified teacher of the Meisner approach under Larry Silverberg.
From 2008 to 2018, he traveled frequently to the United States, deepening his understanding of various methodologies and apprenticing as an acting coach under C. Thor.
He has been teaching within the International Demidov Association for the past three years and previously taught for twelve consecutive years at the Art Theater of Athens. He currently teaches at the drama school “Theater School ΙΟΘ,” while also directing his private studio, Phi Playhouse, where he leads the S.A.M. ensemble—Greece’s first lifelong learning community for professional actors.
Phi Playhouse functions as a permanent hub for Demidov-based work in Greece, fostering an approach grounded in organic creativity, perception, and the actor’s automatic psychophysical processes.
Alongside his artistic and pedagogical work, he has contributed to theatre education as a program designer, collaborating with institutions in Greece and abroad to develop Greece’s first BA program in Acting. He has also participated in Erasmus+ collaborations, teaching as an expert with drama schools in Cyprus.
He is an active contributor to international discourse on actor training and is a co-author of the volume Michael Chekhov and Sanford Meisner: Collisions and Convergence in Actor Training (Routledge, 2020).
