Kate Winslet in Lee movie

— The film has its strong points (for anyone who hasn’t seen many WWII films, it offers something new; for those who enjoy these films, it provides a different perspective—but you won’t see anything you didn’t already know. A brilliant answer to “How did they not see it coming?” (Hitler’s madness)—“It was all happening so slowly…”).

— The chemistry between Winslet and Skarsgård isn’t the best (a bit flat).

— But Kate Winslet is truly phenomenal.

— She acts circles around everyone.

— Possibly one of the greatest actresses of her generation.

— She isn’t afraid to venture into emotionally dangerous territory.

— She doesn’t fear change, she isn’t afraid of her body or her face.

— She understands that it’s not the attempt to remain frozen in time that makes you an actor (that might make you a film star), but the human side that makes you a brilliant actress.

She is a storyteller.
